Did you know that iSpin Aerial Dance Studio is one of the only places in Canberra you can attend sling classes or men's only acro-pole? Neither did we!
Sling uses silky fabric hammocks mounted overhead (you can pull them in tight like a rope or open them out to the size of a tent!) that are designed for strengthening, balancing and flexibility conditioning. Sort of like an aerial yoga experience with dance movements thrown in. The result? A fantastic whole body workout with little to no pressure on your joints.
iSpin's Beginner's Pole dancing classes are specially designed for women with no experience, no upper body strength and no fitness level. Pole is a cardio based class, focusing on strengthening, losing weight and toning muscle. You'll gain flexibility without even knowing it!
Lyra, or aerial hoopla, is a big metal ring that is suspended in mid air. Open to men and women of all fitness and learner levels, you'll start off with a cardio work out, muscle toning and strengthening whilst using the custom-made weighted hula hoops. Then you'll hit the lyra and cover everything from aerial tricks, balancing, flexibility conditioning, strengthening, dance to basic aerial/floor acrobatic tricks and transitioning sequences. Can I get a "hoop! hoop!"?
Can fellas give it a go? Of course! Men naturally possess the upper-body strength to tackle a higher level of pole and aerial activity, regardless of fitness level. Men's only classes teach masculine acro-based pole tricks, technique and transitions while providing a whole body work out to get you ripped, all at a beginner level - so skip girly shimmies and get ready for the rough stuff!
