This place is amazing. We only stayed for a few days in between a holiday on Koh Samui and before spending some time in Bangkok but loved our short time there. The gardens and grounds are out of this world. I’ve never been anywhere quite like it. Simply astounding. It’s impossible to put into words what the gardens are like. It’s an experience. We had a 2 bedroom suite with private pool which was fabulous. Great layout and beautifully presented. Wish we had much more time there to be honest…! The staff were great wherever we found ourselves in the hotel. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel so can’t comment on the restaurants other than the breakfast selection and service being amazing. Whilst there are some creature comforts right next to the hotel (Starbucks, 7-11, pub, various high ends shops, shooting range (!!!), etc in a mall thing 2 minutes from the hotel, none of which we used, there isn’t a little village within walking distance to go experience some authentic Thai meals. So we found ourselves making the best of Google maps and found a little tiny and simple family run restaurant about 15 minutes walk along the beach. Of 3 weeks staying in various places in Thailand, here we had the most amazing meal cooked and served by the loveliest of people, all for few quid per person. Fabulous! The only two things that fell short of 5 stars were the beach and some building works. The beach isn’t one you can lay on. It’s quite steep with coarse sand and when we were there the waves were so big you couldn’t even paddle and get feet wet. Ordinarily you’d therefore chill out on the sun beds at the beach end of the hotel near the main pool. The grounds here were lovely, as was the pool. However when we were there they were building/rebuilding a restaurant and pool area immediately adjacent so there was some noise coming from there and obviously the restaurant was shut down that end. We did spend our first evening sat down by the pool and had drinks and bar food whilst there and even though the building works were ongoing, it didn’t really bother us that much. And to be completely fair, the hotel did get in touch a few months in advance to explain what was going on exactly. I’d definitely go back and recommend it. It’s real treat to stay here. I’d probably also look to upgrade to a villa rather than the suite. Nothing wrong with the suite though, as mentioned above, it was fantastic. But found we had room envy when walking around the grounds seeing some of the villa’s tucked away in the amazing gardens.

Definitely one of the best villas that I've ever stayed in! Stayed at the One Bedroom Pool Villa, and it was an incredible experience. The villa was spacious, beautifully designed with a blend of modern comfort and traditional Thai elements, making it feel both luxurious and authentic. The private pool and serene atmosphere made it the perfect escape — quiet, peaceful, and truly private. The only downside is the resort is situated very far away from Phuket city. The staff were exceptional, always warm, attentive, and helpful throughout the stay. Breakfast at Taurus could use a bit more variety, but their lunch was delicious and definitely worth trying. Overall, a fantastic stay. If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway with top-notch service, Anantara Mai Khao is highly recommended!

Third time to stay at this resort. Villas are very nice, very well maintained. Breakfast is really good with various options. Cleanliness is excellent. The beach is really nice but the current always high, difficult to swim. Nice place if you’re planning to unwind and chill for a couple of days Downside, kids club is very poor with activities, and no much things, very small and boring. The location of the resort is very far from the city and the other attractions. It will take 1 hour + to drive to anywhere in Phuket

Buggy tour of the estate was provided when we checked-in, they also provide buggy to beach as our pool villa was further in, service staff was friendly, room big and spacious, good breakfast spread with honeycomb, house keeping was excellent. Not enough towel hooks in toilet, shower drainage slow, rain shower poor and old, sewage smell along path in estate, beach pool and restaurant were under renovation and we were notified before our trip, not wheelchair or baby stroller pram friendly as there are many steps including at entrance of the villa. Overall old charm, if that is what you like. Saving grace was Turtle Village beside the resort where there were more food options and a pharmacy. Service is still their best attribute, we felt welcome during our stay. Will continue to visit other Anantara resorts.
