What You’ll Love...

The Experiences – From cultural treasures to jaw-dropping nature

Blessed with golden beaches, lush mountains and spectacular views, the sun and fun of Brazil, Rio de Janeiro will give you a warm welcome to South America. Discover this lively city at your leisure: walk the powdery-white sands of Ipanema and Copacabana, travel by cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain, then scale Corcovado and take in the city’s panorama at the base of Christ the Redeemer – one of the seven wonders of the world.

Visit the awe-inspiring, UNESCO World Heritage-Listed Iguazu Falls, witnessing this natural marvel from both Brazilian and Argentinian sides. Get close to the torrential waters while wandering along the catwalk, take in spectacular vistas during a cable car ride to the top of the falls, then spend time exploring the Iguazu Falls National Park where toucans, tapirs, jaguars and more can be found – if you look hard enough.

Admire the elegant architecture of Buenos Aires, often referred to as the “Paris of South America” for its European flair. Take a guided tour of the city’s highlights, including Plaza de Mayo, Metropolitan Cathedral, Casa Rosa, the exciting La Boca neighbourhood and more. Pay a visit to Recoleta Cemetery where the much-loved Eva “Evita” Peron lies. Fresh flowers and cards are regularly laid in tribute to the famous First Lady of Argentina.

Fly to Lima, Peru, where you will uncover the 2,000 years of history, UNESCO-listed sites and pre-Columbian masterpieces hidden in this city with an exclusive guided tour.

Head deep into the Peruvian Andes, visiting some of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed sights native to this region. Start off at exciting Cuzco, known as the oldest continually habited city in the world. Continue to the ancient citadel of Machu Picchu – the “Lost City of the Incas” – a high altitude temple citadel regarded as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Lastly, head to tranquil Lake Titicaca for an enchanting visit to the Floating Uros Islands, a man-made construct created by the indigenous peoples of the area. Set foot on the islands and meet the locals as you learn more about these floating marvels, made completely from reeds woven by the native Uros who have practiced this technique for centuries.

Please Note: Due to the high elevation, travel in the Peruvian highlands may cause some passengers to experience the temporary effects of altitude sickness. If you have any concerns about traveling to higher than your accustomed elevation, please consult your healthcare provider. This active program covers a good amount of ground each day. Expect from two to three hours walking on some touring days. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes. A few early wake-ups, some at 5 or 6 am, as well as one long 10-hour drive to Puno are necessary to cover the territory. The altitude, 11,000 feet in Cuzco and 12,400 feet in Puno, may be a consideration for those who have heart conditions or are otherwise affected by high altitude. We suggest you check with your health-care provider before signing up for this tour.

Important: Please allow for travelling time. International flights are not included in your package and must be purchased separately. It is your responsibility to make your own travel arrangements and ensure that you arrive in Rio De Janeiro for your chosen tour start date.

The package is valid for ONE PERSON (based on twin share). If you are travelling with another person you must purchase TWO PACKAGES, otherwise, an additional solo traveller surcharge will apply (see below). Solo travellers will get their own room throughout the tour.

Solo Traveller Surcharge: Solo travellers must pay a surcharge of AU$1,720.

Maximum tour group size varies on location: 40 people for Brazil and Argentina, 28 people for Peru.

Minimum age of travellers is 8 years old.

Standard bedding configuration is one double bed or twin beds on request.

Maximum Room Capacity: Maximum room capacity is two adults.

Tour includes accommodation at the following hotels:

Windsor Leme - Rio de Janeiro

American Portal del Iguazu - Iguazu Falls

Panamericano Buenos Aires - Beuenos Aires

Novotel Lima - Lima

Palacio del Inka a Luxury Collection Hotel - Cuzco

Sonesta Posada del Inca Puno - Puno

Peru Hotels: Most hotels in the Peruvian highlands don't have air-conditioning or central heating (although generally a space heater is provided in the room) and may have weak Wi-Fi signal or limited bandwidth. Hotels in the Sacred Valley and Urubamba are often old haciendas that have been renovated and are located in rural areas where the closest store or restaurant may require a taxi ride. The comfort level in these hotels may be lower than that in big cities. Lack of hot water and power outages are not uncommon. Some travelers may experience discomfort from the temporary effects of altitude sickness in the Peruvian highlands. Oxygen is available at the front desk of hotels, though not available for use in the rooms (unless there is an emergency). If desired, small disposable portable oxygen pumps can be purchased locally for around AU$15. Few hotels in Cuzco offer pressurized rooms for those who have difficulty adapting to the higher altitude.

Brazil and Argentina Hotels: Please be aware that accommodations in major cities may be limited to one large bed. A smaller bed or cot may be requested if two separate beds are preferred but cannot be guaranteed.

About Your Train to Machu Picchu: Tickets for Machu Picchu will be provided locally. On the day of your visit to Machu Picchu, you will depart by motor coach to the Ollantaytambo station. Your Tour Manager will check that you are carrying your passport which is required to board all Machu Picchu trains. Prior to arrival at the station, you will receive your round trip tickets including seat assignments from your Tour Manager. Passport names and numbers on the tickets must match your passport. You will present your ticket to the conductor prior to boarding the train for Aguas Calientes. You should hold on to your ticket as it will be required for the return journey. Due to very limited storage space, only one small backpack / daypack / handbag per passenger is permitted onboard trains to Machu Picchu. This applies for overnight stays as well. Additional luggage will be transported to and held at your next hotel for no additional charge. Passengers who wish to bring extra luggage on the train will be charged an additional fee payable directly to the train operator; this extra luggage might follow in a separate train car.

Internal flights: Flights will be operated by AeroMexico, LATAM and Avianca. Tickets include one 23kg baggage and a 7kg carry on per person.

A visa may be required to the countries you are visiting and transiting. It is your responsibility to ensure you are holding a current visa.

Passport information must be submitted to Gate 1 Travel at least 60 days prior to departure. This information is necessary to issue Machu Picchu train tickets.
