Beautiful place to stay near Hanmer Springs! Loved the spacious room we had, nice spa in the bathroom and super comfy bed. Good night stay, although we thought the rooms aren’t very well insulated because it was quite noisy during the night, people shutting doors or not sure what was happening. Breakfast was good for us, coffee was cold but the food was ok, I’d say everything what you need for a good breakfast meal and considering it was buffet was great. We also ordered the cheese platter to the room and that was a little disappointing for the size, I always think why don’t the put cheaper cheese to make it a little more abundant and worth the price? I’ve work in hotels before and again most customers complain about cheese platters anyway.

I was taken here for a surprise birthday trip. Positives: Very secluded, nice and private. The rooms are up there with some of the largest hotel suites I've ever seen. Large Californian king beds, private spa to yourself outside, large jacuzzi in the bathroom. Double head showers with exceedingly high pressure. TV on a swivel so you may watch from the couch or from your bed. The staff are very efficient in replacing empty dishes at the breakfast buffet. A lovely birthday welcome awaiting in the room with a card and balloons. The female housekeeper on yesterday afternoon was very friendly and also wished a happy birthday. Negatives: The soap and hair wash provided in the shower were completely empty, and the hair wash had been filled with water obviously to spread the remnants of whatever was left in the bottle. The restaurant is ridiculously expensive for what they offer - Mains were a form of protein, a scoop of instant mashed potato, two pieces of broccoli, a slice of courgette, and a bit of carrot - Anywhere upward from $42NZD. The food is certainly nice, but not worth the price they ask for it, it's almost greedy and cost cutting. The specials were three different curries, or a chicken burger? Merely in my opinion but curry should not be on the menu, it doesn't fit, let alone as a special. Trying to get through to room service and reception via the in room phone was impossible in the afternoon, wanted to order a drink and nobody was answering the phone, ended up having to walk through the maze of hallways and stairs to find the bar and order directly. The overall experience was still positive, made more so by the room and in-room inclusions, but you'd be better to drive and dine out elsewhere.

Brilliant location. Room was lovely, as was the bathroom. The restaurant is uninspiring, as is its menu. We did have a couple of mishaps, but the general manager was accommodating in rectifying the short falls. Unfortunately it is owned by an overseas investor who wants it to be run on the scent of an oily rag.

We stayed here for a romantic weekend away, purchasing a package that included a spa room, dinner, breakfast and a massage. The rooms are slightly dated, however very spacious and the gas fire is a good point. The spa we had was quite small, but the view from the spa was spectacular. The spa bath inside was very good as well. Dinner was delicious, we had a steak and a lamb meal. Both were great cuts of meat. Breakfast was a standard buffet, nice but nothing special. The massage was OK, again nothing special and lacking things like a warmed bed to lie on. Staff were very friendly and did their best to look after us. I would say this is a good 4 star hotel.
