The Location – A working farm with a fascinating history
Become a part of history with a stay at Bungaree Station. Dating back to 1841, Bungaree was established by the Hawker brothers in 1841 as the headquarters of an extensive property, home to 100,000 merino sheep. Run almost like a small village, Bungaree once boasted a homestead, shearers’ quarters, wool-shed, station store and more.
These days it is an efficient working farm, run by fourth and fifth generations of the Hawker family and home to a selection of cosy holiday cottages. The heritage-listed buildings at Bungaree Station have been repurposed to offer modern accommodation for holidaying couples, groups or families in the region.
Stay amidst sprawling grounds, offering an outdoor swimming pool, plenty of space for walking, a farm shop and plenty of animals that children (and the young at heart) will enjoy meeting.
The Cottages – Two-Bedroom upgrade available for families
Perfect for two, the Stallion Box began as a stable and has now been transformed into a self-contained cottage with one bedroom, a wood fire, kitchenette, en suite and verandah with outdoor seating and BBQ. Take more time to relax on your final day with a leisurely noon check-out guaranteed.
Family Upgrade: Heritage buildings that once accommodated the property’s staff have now been converted into two-bedroom cottages that are ideal for families and sleep four people, with one queen bed and two single beds.
Deluxe Upgrade: Deluxe two-bedroom cottages offer even more space for groups of four to relax, with the option of adding a fifth guest (see ‘Fine Print’ for surcharges). Benefit from two queen beds, a second bathroom and a full kitchen with lounge space — ideal for two couples.
The Inclusions – Daily breakfast provisions and a bottle of local wine
Get a taste for the region with a bottle of local Clare Valley wine waiting in your cottage on arrival (three-night stays will receive two bottles of wine). You’ll also enjoy daily provisions to rustle up a full country breakfast in the comfort of your cottage, including eggs, bacon, juice, cereal, tea, coffee and milk.

The Riesling Trail is ideal for keen hikers and cyclists, while the hedge maze at Mintaro and mini golf at Auburn will keep younger guests entertained.

Feel Like Changing Your Dates? No Worries…
You can make one (1) change to the date of your booking provided the change is made no less than 45 days before the start of your original booking date and provided you choose dates which are of an equal value and are available. Any change to booking dates is subject to and must be made online in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
One-Bedroom Cottage – Packages are valid for two adults
Maximum Room Capacity: The maximum room capacity is two adults and one baby.
Baby Policy: One baby aged one years and under may stay free of charge. A portable cot can be provided by the hotel free of charge on request.
Two-Bedroom Cottage – Packages are valid for four guests
Maximum Room Capacity: The maximum room capacity is four guests and one baby.
Baby Policy: One baby aged one years and under may stay free of charge. A portable cot can be provided by the hotel free of charge on request.
Deluxe Two-Bedroom Cottage – Packages are valid for four guests
Maximum Room Capacity: The maximum room capacity is five guests and one baby.
Extra Guest Policy: An additional guest (aged 12 and over) may stay for a surcharge of A$55 per night, sleeping on a rollaway with accommodation and breakfast only. Payable directly to the hotel.
Child Policy: An additional child (aged 11 and under) may stay for a surcharge of A$33 per night, sleeping on a rollaway with accommodation and breakfast only. Payable directly to the hotel.
Baby Policy: One baby aged one years and under may stay free of charge. A portable cot can be provided by the hotel free of charge on request.
Connecting rooms are not available.
Country breakfast provisions for the duration of the stay are left in the cottage prior to arrival, for guests to prepare at their leisure each morning. These breakfast provisions include free-range Clare Valley eggs, bacon, bread, cereal, milk and juice.
