Peacefully set in a beautiful hidden valley on the outskirts of Airlie Beach, overlooking the turquoise waters of Pioneer Bay and capturing the natural surroundings of the ocean and tropical rainforest, Freedom Shores is a resort with a difference and an interesting story – as well as being the first of its kind in the Whitsundays.
After the acquisition then refurbishment of the old Shute Harbour jetty, the resort’s owners were inspired to build an entire resort on the water. Originally named after The Doors’ song ‘Waiting for the Sun’, Freedom Shores was born and is now a bespoke oasis where a laidback atmosphere reigns.
Its unique bungalows are all designed to look like fishing boats — with every room offering wide views of the ocean — and its facilities are excellent: there’s a pool, a superb deck where you might enjoy breakfast al fresco, a private beach and an award-winning restaurant, Northerlies Beach Bar and Grill. The resort is also surrounded by swaying palm trees, with some coming straight from the set of the movie ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’.

Be the captain of your own boat and feel ready to sail off from the landlocked marina as you step into an Ocean Class Boat Bungalow. Elegant, modern and with carefully-considered details for the maritime theme, your bungalow boasts a plush queen bed, a modern bathroom, beautiful wooden floors – just like on a luxury boat – and relaxed seating on a furnished deck offering sweeping views over the ocean.

Ocean Class Boat Bungalow – packages valid for two adults
Maximum Room Capacity: The maximum room capacity is two adults. No additional guests can be accommodated.
Resort Suite – packages valid for two adults
Maximum Room Capacity: The maximum room capacity is three adults or two adults and two children.
Extra Guest Policy: One additional guest (aged 13 years and over) may stay free of charge, sleeping on existing bedding (sofa bed) with accommodation and breakfast only. A surcharge of A$49 per night applies for a rollaway bed. Payable directly to the resort.
Child Policy: Up to two children (aged 12 years and under) may stay for free, sleeping on existing bedding (sofa bed) with accommodation and breakfast only. A surcharge of A$49 per child, per night applies for a rollaway bed. Payable directly to the resort.
Baby Policy: One baby (aged one year and under) may stay free of charge and will count towards maximum room capacity. A cot can be provided free of charge.
Connecting rooms are not available.
Dining Credits: Dining credits can be used in full for either lunch or dinner at the resort. Credits must be used separately and cannot be combined. The unused credit will be forfeited. No minimum spend applies. No split bills.
