I stayed here about 35 years ago, but it still feels old and I was able to stay there comfortably.

The room is spacious and the location is great. There is a convenience store right across the street. There are no restaurants nearby, which is a bit disappointing.

Quite a spacious room considering the hotel room sizes in Japan. Check in was quite efficient as they send you an email to pre-check in a day or two before your arrival. The hotel is rather dated, therefore the rooms are as well. Yellowish lights, lack of in-room amenities, super soft pillows (not my personal preference) and if you’re not driving, this hotel may be slightly far from the station.

I had high hopes for this hotel as it was listed as highly rated, but was very disappointed. I had booked a non-smoking room, but the one I was shown to smelled so strongly of cigarettes that it was more than just my imagination. At first I thought I could just put up with it, but the smell was so bad I complained to the front desk. When I did, they didn't even apologize, and just asked, "Which room is it? Did you use the bathroom?" I mean, shouldn't they have apologized first? How could they not have known about a room that smelled of cigarettes? What's more, the front desk staff seemed so used to it that it was obvious they were thinking they'd be lucky if no one said anything through the guest, which was just awful. I don't like smoking, so I made a point of looking for and booking a non-smoking room, so it was really awful. A certain website listed this hotel as a luxury/high-class inn, but in what way? I was left wondering. They did change my room, but it really dampened my mood after such a wonderful trip. The lounge was nice and had beer and wine available, but the snacks were very basic, consisting only of a few dried foods like salmon roe. The location is a long walk from Sapporo Station and you have to change subway lines, so I'm sure there are plenty of better hotels out there. The room itself was old, but spacious, which was a good thing.
