Haadtien Beach Resort has exclusive access to Koh Tao’s best strip of beach, Thian Og Bay (Shark Bay). The crystal-clear waters make it one of the island’s best snorkelling spots, while the sheltered nature of the bay means you can spend hours on the white sand without weather worries.

The only way to access Koh Tao island is by boat – ferries depart Koh Samui twice daily and take approximately 2.5 hours. The resort is approximately 15 minutes by taxi from the ferry port of Mae Haad or 25 minutes by taxi boat. Update 29 August 11.45am ASET: Renovations will be underway at the inSea restaurant between 10 September and 20 December 2024. Work will commence from 8am–6pm (with noise hours from 10am–5pm), as a result, there will be some construction noise. During this time Happy Hour benefits will be offered on selected items at Capri restaurant and the Beach Bar, and additional shuttle services will be provided between the resort. Mae Haad Pier and Sairee Beach throughout the renovation period. Please note the completion date is subject to change.

Please Note:

Scheduled roundtrip transfers from Mae Haad Pier are included in your package. Transfer is via a pick-up truck with bench seating and is not air-conditioned. It’s a 10 to 15-minute drive from the pier to the resort. A representative of the resort will be at the pier to meet all ferries, please notify the hotel of your expected arrival time prior to your stay.

„Can I get your passports and a credit card?“ These were the first words when arriving in this „luxury barefoot resort“. No „Welcome to our resort“, no „welcome, how are you?“, no welcome drink, no „how was your travels after 24 hours of getting here“. Advice to management: get „welcome protocol“ implemented, so every of your receptionists follows the welcome protocol. The breakfast situation is ridiculous. The buffet room where breakfast is served is by far too small. It was a nightmare getting there in the morning - and stand in line for almost anything. But: The Coffee situation topped everything. Nobody is willing to wait for 30 minutes for a Coffee in the morning. With a completely unusable Coffee machine (which you would find in a European 3-room Appartement), you cannot serve hundreds of guests in a luxury resort. Advice to the management: get at least a second coffee machine (it‘s not rocket science). Positive: Well trained personnel at the coffee machine (she does her best) - she is capable of remembering coffee orders with a lead time of more than 45 minutes 😀 Actually, I am writing this Review while waiting for my coffee 😬 Very very nice and well trained service staff in the restaurant! It was a joy to go there for Lunch and dinner. Room Cleaning also very well. Check-out: See check-in. In simple words: very badly trained reception staff. Unfriendly, Not customer-focused. No smile (and this is hard to find in Thailand), no „Was everything to your satisfaction?“, no „We hope to see you soon“, no „Have safe travels“ - just: „Good morning, here is your receipt!“. Advice to management: get „exit protocol“ implemented, so every of your receptionist follows the exit protocol. Needless to say that the location is stunning.

There is no doubt that the location is beautiful and the beach is stunning – but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. This place calls itself a four-star resort, but it’s nowhere near that standard. The biggest issue is the resort at night: it is extremely dark, with almost no lighting on the paths. It feels unsafe, unpleasant, and cheap – as if management is saving money on electricity. We nearly stepped on frogs simply because we couldn’t see where we were walking. For a “four-star” resort, this is unacceptable. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. We asked to rent snorkeling gear at 3 PM, offered to pay the full price and return it within an hour, but were refused because it was “too late.” During breakfast, staff tried to sell us spa packages while we were eating. While relaxing on the beach, staff came over again – this time with a reminder about checkout and a note to close the bill the night before. On the very first day, we were told we couldn’t use the shuttle bus because it had to be booked one day in advance – something impossible for new arrivals. Our room also had serious issues. The shower never drained properly, leaving standing water that attracted mosquitoes at night. Despite contacting maintenance several times, nothing was ever fixed. Breakfast was disappointing – poor variety, many items missing, and long lines just to get a coffee. Bottom line: this resort survives only on its location and the beach. Everything else – service, facilities, maintenance, food, and overall atmosphere – feels neglected and far from four-star quality. Unless management makes serious changes, I cannot recommend staying here.

Beautiful resort and lanscape with nice private beach. However, definitely NOT a 4-star one with their service and management in my opinion. Misleading sales staff : We booked 2 Thai-tiew-thai packages (getaway villa), which are for 4 nights. Each include 1 complimentary dinner set and 1 snorkelling join trip. The sales staff who helped us with vouchers purchase informed us that the dinner sets and snorkelling trips are interchangeble (can choose to have all 4 dinners or 4 snorkelling trips or a mix of both later when we arrive at the resort). However, the onsite staff are unaware of this at all and requested us to contact the reservations BY OURSELVES. Later, we were told that there is no such offer -- we either take it or leave it -- since we do not have any written evidence to prove this. (And, for the record, we have not received any email confirmation when we did purchase the vouchers lol). Shuttle service : the resort provides 3 rounds of shuttle to Sai-ree beach BUT ONLY 1 ROUND BACK TO HOTEL. I undrestand that this is a extra-service but it doesn't make any sense to me. Since it is impossible to walk back to hotel (the paassge is very steep and dark at night). So, make sure you book the round-trip service in advance, otherewise you will have to pay minimum of 400 baht per one-way trip back to the resort ! Service : Some of the staff are really nice (espcially the waiter at the restaurant during night shift), but majority of the staff here seriously lack service mind and do not know how to communicate to guests properly. The driving staff who is in charge of picking up/dropping off between resort and pier address us as "น้อง" or "Bro" in english which sounds weird to us first of all. Second, they asked us to carry the heavy bag (with my diving gears). We were ok at first since we thought it would be only for a while. Turned out, we had to carried by ourselved from pier to reception.
