We stayed here for one night while we explored through Vik and the southern coast. This is a little bit always from the central area of Vik. We pulled up and there are a few lakes on the campus and a few different buildings with room numbers on them. Parking was free in their lot. We checked in late at night and the front desk gentlemen was so helpful and sweet. There is a bar in the lobby and they serve continental breakfast from 7-10. Everything was incredibly clean and updated. Felt like I was staying in a new hotel. Our room was a short walk across from the lobby. It was very spacious and spotless. The only complaint was that there is no air so our room was very hot. But everything else was excellent! Highly recommend if you want a more quaint experience. Felt like a summer camp

This hotel gets nothing but absolute praise from me. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out Hotel Katla was an absolutely amazing experience through and through. The staff during check in were super kind, and the room was actually quite big with a really nice, modern bathroom. Beds were comfortable but quite narrow, which is fine. The complimentary breakfast was really nice. Big dining space and a pretty good selection for food options, with really good tea. Check out was fast and easy. 10/10 hotel for sure!

The advertisements and price gave the impression of a luxury resort experience, but this was simple hotel stay. Restaurant was nice for dinner with the buffet. Solid breakfast spread included. Rooms are spacious and the curtains kept out the light well. The location is also very convenient outside Vik along the ring road. Unfortunately, just not quite the value I had been hoping for. It did have hot tub, sauna, and fitness room - which was all nice.

Overall decent stay, but a little pricier vs. other places we stayed in Iceland. Rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable (which were most important for us) but the bathroom was tiny (smallest of the 6 hotels we stayed at in Iceland), no counter space and there was no way to shower without the entire floor getting soaked. Easy to access with plenty of parking. We thought breakfast was fine, but average compared to other places we stayed in Iceland.
