A historical building that dates back to 1926, it was designed by Commonwealth Chief Architect John Smith Murdoch, the architect behind Old Parliament House. The hotel sits within easy reach of some of the city’s best sites, including Parliament House, Lake Burley Griffin and the National Gallery of Australia.

It has played host to many politicians and members of parliament throughout history and was once home to Prime Minister Chifley, who lived at the hotel during his time in parliament. The hotel took inspiration from this famous resident for its Chifley’s Bar & Grill – complete with a whisky bar in honour of his favourite tipple – while its beautiful Art Deco interiors, custom-made furniture, soft jazz music, and library of books and artworks create a sense of stepping back in time.
