I love this hotel. Reception was friendly and it didn’t take long for us to check-in and get situated in our room. We stayed for two nights. Our room was located all the way in the back corner so we were far away from the hallway and elevator noise. We also had a nice roof-top view of the city. It rained one night and that made the ambiance even more cozy and charming. The bathroom was clean and room service did a great job. The location is perfect - it’s at the center of everything. We drove from Germany so we had a car but we left it at a garage and just walked during our whole stay in Amsterdam. I will definitely be staying again at Hotel Mai the next time I visit Amsterdam and I highly recommend this place!

The location of this hotel is fantastic—just a few minutes’ walk from Amsterdam Central, which makes it super convenient for anyone traveling by train. It’s also located in the Chinatown, so grabbing some quick and tasty Asian food is never a problem. I really appreciated the Chinese elements in the hotel’s decor; they’ve added some lovely details that give the place character. We even got fortune cookies when we checked in, which I thought was a really thoughtful touch. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable—no complaints there. Breakfast is on the pricier side, but I’ve got to admit the quality was excellent. Overall, a very pleasant stay and I’d definitely consider coming back.

3 stars for the rooms. It was very dark. There was no view out of the window. 4 stars for service. Upon check in I was standing outside for a few minutes waiting for someone too open the door after ringing the bell. They should keep someone at the desk at all times to prevent this. I had walked from central station with my large suitcase and backpack just to get there and have to wait for someone to open the door. The lady that checked me in didn't ofter to help me with me luggage or have someone help me. The lady that checked me out however was helpful and brought my luggage to me after keeping it in their storage after I checked out. She was pretty nice and motivated. I liked the fact that they have charging adapters. Not sure if it's normal in Amsterdam hotels but housekeeping came around 4pm everyday rather earlier in the day.

We had a very bad experience at Mai Hotel Amsterdam. We booked two rooms for two people through Booking.com and traveled from Belgium to Amsterdam. When we arrived at the hotel, the reception staff told us that there were no available rooms and refused to accept us. Moreover, we were not informed in any way beforehand about the cancellation of our reservation. No solution was offered, which caused us both a waste of time and financial loss. This approach shows no regard for guest satisfaction, and I definitely do not recommend this hotel.
