Please Note:

  • Please be informed that lift 5 (servicing the basement pool, spa, sauna, gym and laundry) will be offline for upgrades from 16 June 2025 to 1 October 2025. During this period, guests will not be able to access the basement amenities via lift 5. Access will only be available via the stairway from the low ground floor to the basement (one floor down). All basement facilities will remain open and fully operational.
  • Best Flexible Rate and Advance Purchase rate packages include daily housekeeping. Long Stay Rate package includes weekly housekeeping. All other rate packages do not include housekeeping (departure clean only).
  • Please note that reception is open 24 hours, seven days a week.
  • A non-refundable 1.5% service charge applies to all credit card transactions made at the property.
  • A valid photo ID and a credit card pre-authorisation of A$1 will be required upon check-in.
  • Guests must be 18 years of age and above in order to check in. All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or official guardian.
  • Please note pre-booked parking is available at Secure Public Car Park located at 376 Flinders Street for Oaks Melbourne on Market Hotel guests for AUD$30 per 24 hours per car. Should you require car park access, please call Hotel reception within 24 hours prior to check in to receive a code for multiple carpark entries. Alternatively, the code can also be received from reception at check in before entering the car park. The car park is located approximately 110 meters from hotel and the height limit is 1.9m.

Very reasonably priced hotel in a prime location. Rooms are clean and well equipped. Would be 5 stars however when returning to the hotel in the early hours there were 3 inebriated individuals on the steps asking me if there was any rooms available. To clarify they were not threatening in any way, but this is something that hotel staff should have dealt with and they should have moved these individuals on. I did notify reception, however, they did not seem interested.

It's a great place to stay in if you're visiting Melbourne. We stayed in the hotel for a fortnight before moving in to our apartment. The rooms are spacious, neat and tidy, the staff is responsive and helpful and the price is reasonable. The location of the place is an advantage. The only thing we did not find comfortable is that there is no ramp at the entrance, so you have to carry your luggage up the flight of eight or so stairs.

My husband and I stayed at Oaks Melbourne for four nights. Overall, we had a really positive experience. In particular, we liked the comfortable bed, reverse-cycle air conditioning, and the size of the room. The room was clean, the kitchen was well equipped, and the staff were professional and efficient. Location was excellent and value for money was good. Areas for improvement- the water pressure in the shower was not great, the phone in our room did not work, and there was a stain on our duvet.

While the Oak Hotel is centrally located and convenient for exploring Melbourne, unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended for us. The hotel feels incredibly dated and worn down, with tired furnishings and a general lack of upkeep. Cleanliness was also an issue—upon checking in, we had to request housekeeping to return and clean the bathroom, as it still had visible soap marks and hair from the previous guest in the bathtub. Not the welcome you hope for. Room service food was surprisingly good, which was a silver lining, but the room itself lacked any modern amenities. The TV only offered reruns of Seinfeld and The Nanny—literally the first-ever episodes. No streaming services, no on-demand options—just static nostalgia. To make matters worse, the hotel is currently under construction. Be prepared to be woken up bright and early by drilling and banging, which really takes away from any hope of a relaxing stay. With so many other great accommodation options in Melbourne, this one is hard to recommend unless major improvements are made.
