What You’ll Love…
The Resort – An idyllic island paradise
Accessible only by helicopter from Townsville (at an additional charge), Orpheus Island Lodge provides guests with a truly secluded island experience with all the modern luxuries you’d expect of a private island lodge.
The island itself features 11km of immaculate coastline set within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed marine park. Guests can spend time snorkelling in colourful protected reefs, chilling out in a hammock hung between two palm trees or unwinding on one of the dreamy white-sand beaches. The island lodge is home to the main pavilion bar and alfresco-style dining area, a restaurant, a reading room, the Gwandalan Day Spa and a picture-perfect glittering infinity pool overlooking the Coral Sea.
Orpheus Island Lodge is a Tripadvisor 2020 Travelers’ Choice ‘Best of the Best’ award winner in the Top Small Hotels – Australia category. Its restaurant was also awarded a Chef’s Hat by the Australian Good Food Guide in 2019.
The Food – All meals included, crafted using the freshest seasonal produce and seafood
Gourmands will be in their element on Orpheus Island, where the bounty of the sea and the island’s very own vegetable garden are used to create exquisite dishes overseen by Head Chef James Egan.
Ease into sun-kissed island days with a fresh and delicious à la carte breakfast — including smoked salmon bagel with caper and dill cream cheese, and avocado smash with 63° egg, marinated feta and dukkah, accompanied by coffee, tea and juice.
Take a trip around the globe at lunchtime as you sample tapas from Italy, Thailand, Japan, the Middle East and beyond. Enjoy an array of flavour-filled dishes such as grilled halloumi with pistachio and pomegranate, Thai beef salad with nahm jim and Japanese karaage chicken. Alternatively, you might like to request a chef-prepared picnic hamper to enjoy as you explore the island.
If that’s whet your appetite, then wait for the pièce de résistance: your nightly four-course degustation dinner served overlooking the lapping waters of the Coral Sea. This is where the lodge’s gastronomical prowess truly shines, with dishes such as king prawn ceviche with smoked goat’s cheese and avocado lime mousse, venison tenderloin with roast plum, sour cherries and young turnips, and seared scallops with butternut pumpkin, edamame, jamon serrano and dashi. You might even choose to dine on fish caught by your own hand earlier in the day on a fishing expedition.
Plus, enjoy a bottle of French Champagne with chocolate-dipped strawberries on arrival, as well as a selection of quality Australian wines and beers and a fully stocked minibar and as part of your stay.
The Room – Light and luxurious with Coral Sea views
Light and airy with views of the Coral Sea, your North Beachfront Room offers laidback luxury complete with a plush king-sized bed and a private terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee, prepared using your in-room coffee machine.
