The Prairie Outback Lodge at Prairie Hotel enjoys a remote location in Parachilna, the gateway town to South Adelaide’s magnificent Flinders Ranges and iconic Wilpena Pound. The lodge is located approximately a 5.5-hour drive from Adelaide Airport (ADL). Airport transfers are not included in your package, please plan accordingly.

This ancient landscape (brimming with more than 600 million years of ancient and Indigenous history) is made up of deep craters, gorges, creeks and iconic sites like Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre and Wilpena Pound, a colossal natural amphitheatre. Spend long days exploring some of Australia’s most quintessential sites and return to the comfort of your lodge, where a warm welcome from fellow travellers and locals is accompanied by an ice-cold beer from the onsite Brewhouse. Fuel your outback discovery at Gallery Restaurant, where fine dining is sharing a Flinders feral feast and sipping a glass of shiraz as the sunsets into the endless red plains.

The journey into South Australia’s remote and vast outback is long and bumpy – what better remedy for the journey than a glass of wine or ice-cold beer when you arrive at your lodge? Fuel up each morning with daily à la carte breakfast at the Gallery Restaurant and after a day of ticking off quintessential Aussie bucket list experiences, before returning to a delicious culinary experience every evening. Dishes are made using native ingredients: enjoy everything from quandongs (native peaches) to wattle seeds, saltbush and mountain pepper berries. Nothing truly immerses you in a region like tasting the local flavours.
Speaking of, be treated to a one-time Prairie tasting menu and dessert, which includes a platter filled with tasty bites such as kangaroo pastrami, goats cheese, chargrilled vegetables, house-made bush tomato chilli jam, warm ciabatta bread, quandong dessert and more. Accompanying your platter is a glass from the lodge’s own Fargher Lager brew or a glass of Flinders Range sparkling, white or red wine.
