Don’t listen to the bad reviews! I’ll be honest, I was a bit nervous before booking because of some of the reviews I read. But once I got there, all those worries disappeared. Is it perfect? Nah. Is it like some fancy 5-star luxury resort you see in the movies? Also nah. But here’s the deal: • Bed was clean and comfy. • Room was tidy and looked after. • Staff were super friendly and happy to help. • Pool and gym? Yep — just in the Mercure next door and really easy to get to. • Buffet brekkie? HELL YES. Tasty, fresh, and heaps of options. Honestly, I reckon most of the negative reviews are from people who stay in 5-star hotels all the time or live in airport lounges. If you’re just a normal Aussie looking for somewhere clean, comfy and easy to enjoy, this place is spot on. It’s also close to two train stations (Roma Street and Central) and right across from the King George Square bus station, so getting around is a breeze.

We stayed during school holidays to be able to do some activities in Brisbane city. The hotel is well situated for the main shopping street and also Roma Street gardens. We made use of the pool which had some lovely views, but not big enough for many people. The room was clean and well stocked, we all Felt very comfortable.

I recently stayed at Pullman Brisbane King George Square during a business trip, and it exceeded expectations. The location is ideal—right in the heart of the city, making it easy to get around for meetings and catch up with colleagues. The rooms were spacious, quiet, and well-equipped, which made it easy to unwind after a long day. The staff were genuinely welcoming and attentive, and the rooftop bar was a great spot to relax with a view. As someone who travels often for work, I really appreciated the seamless experience. Highly recommend for both business and leisure stays.

I was disappointed with our stay on this occasion. On our arrival we could not check in as none of the computers at reception were working. We left our bags which was fine but were not rung as we were told we would be when it was possible to check in. Then, one of the vanity basins in our bathroom was very cracked which was not the quality I would expect. Other than that the room was fine. The big disappointment that I had was at Goldfinch restaurant. My husband and I went in there for a late dinner after an event we had been to. I ordered the soup of the day. I was told that this was pumpkin but when my husband's meal came they then told me it was broccoli soup and there was no pumpkin soup. I was happy with broccoli soup so accepted the swap but if I hadn't there would have been a significant wait while I ordered something else and my meal would have been served well after my husband's. I was enjoying my soup and had had maybe 6 spoonfuls when I realised there was something in my mouth that was not soup! There was a square plastic bread bag tag in my mouth that had been in the soup. We called the waitstaff over and they were quite apologetic. They offered me another soup but given that I'd already been given one bowl contaminated with plastic I opted not to have one and just ate some of my husband's vegetables. The waitstaff did take a photo of the bread bag tag on the plate. The waitstaff offered me a dessert which I initially declined but they were so insistent that I took one in a takeaway container to ease their minds. The interesting/disappointing thing that I find about this though is that despite us being the last people dining in the restaurant, so it was not busy, no one from the kitchen came to apologise to me or explain how this could have happened. Also, I realised later that we had still been charged for the soup on our bill. I find the inclusion of a charge for contaminated food on the bill highly inappropriate. Overall very disappointing.
