From the moment we arrived at Raffles Singapore, I was treated like family. The warm reception and lead to my well-appointed suite was the perfect welcome after a long travel day. The team immediately made me feel at ease, even in the incredible sprawling property. The spacious rooms felt inviting as I settled in, taking in the wonderful seating area, comfortable king-sized bed, and beautiful restroom and bath area. During my stay, I enjoyed meals across the hotel's restaurant portfolio, thoroughly enjoying the wide variety of upscale Chinese cuisine at Yi, inventive head-to-tail concept at Butcher's Block, delicious Indian food at Tiffin Room, a Singapore Sling at the iconic Long Bar, and even enjoying afternoon tea in the lobby seating area as well as breakfast in the courtyard. I enjoyed the fitness center everyday, including a perfect morning with sunrise yoga next to the pool. The spa is an oasis with an attentive team to ensure relaxation from the moment you enter. I shopped more than I anticipated at the Arcade, particularly at the Raffles Boutique -- rather than offering tacky souvenirs, the items were thoughtful and upscale. Overall, this was one of the best hotel stays I have ever experienced. I cannot wait to return "home."

Raffles is iconic, fullstop. To be able to have full access to its impressive grounds as a house guest is worth the price of admission for some, but it is a steep price. While it is not quite in the "if you need to ask" territory, the nightly rate of its cheapest suite would sit comfortably in the top of the range for most 5 star hotels. It might be better if you don't ask. . . Then again, to be able to order the original Singapore sling delivered to your room by your butler is priceless. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Their training is impeccable. Even their cheapest suite is luxurious and packed with mod cons. However, it is not huge nor ultra luxe. It is on par with other top end properties. We did have a few minor issues such as the location of the coffee machine and the large rug on the floor seems to have seen better days. Do not think of this as "just somewhere to crash" after a long day touring. Enjoy the grounds, you paid for the privilege. Take in the atmosphere. There is history around every corner. It is a stay to be remembered, as long as it fits within your budget.
