I had the opportunity to stay at the hotel for the first time to celebrate our 14th anniversary. The experience was beyond expectations. The room was clean and spacious, the atmosphere was peaceful, and there were plenty of activities. The large pool was right on the beach. I was warmly welcomed by Bella. I must commend Pepsi from the Club Millesime for his excellent service. I also commend Luk Wa, Dina, and all the staff in the club. I can't even name them all; everyone was polite and attentive. The food in the lounge for afternoon tea and evening cocktails was absolutely amazing! Delicious, constantly refilled, and the service was truly generous. Breakfast was also plentiful, with a wide variety of delicious and clean dishes. At the Venezia Italian restaurant, my son had a wonderful experience with the chef making the pizza. The food was delicious, and we received excellent service from Nook. The other staff were also very attentive. On check-out, the hotel called to inform us of a forgotten item, and we were assisted by Khun Kwang, the Duty Manager, in sending it back. I was very impressed. All the staff were very service-minded. Overall, this hotel was a great value, making my stay even more special, in line with the excellent service and experience I received. I will definitely return.

This was our first time staying with Sofitel and we had really high expectations but the stay was average at the best. We were greeted with a snake at the portico during arrival, and obviously we were scared at the entrance itself. We got the room instantly and were really thankful to the team for decorating our room and providing cake for our son's first birthday. We were never informed that renovation work was on going at the hotel, so there was lot of construction noise during the stay. The kids' play area was shifted to the lower ground floor near the Maya restaurant (which was closed), there was no ventilation in that area, was pretty warm and full of mosquitoes. The property is definitely showing signs of wear and tear, the in-room amenities were missing, we had to call for slippers, umbrella, shaving kit. The room service was extremely slow and we never had anything delivered on the first attempt. We were travelling with an infant and every hotel/resort provides complimentary baby food but we were told that you can order baby food only once during the day which was a bit surprising. How can we use the food provided in the afternoon for the baby at night without reheating facilities in the room? Although, we were provided warm milk for the baby in the evening but the whole conversation made our stay pretty distasteful. The restaurant services were really good both at the Venezia and White Lotus Restaurant, not to miss the Gelato Shop. The pool side restaurant was also great but the property didn't feel like welcoming at all. Maybe, we will consider Dusit Thani or Phulay Bay next time for our stay.

The Worst Hotel Experience Ever I don’t understand how this hotel has a 5-star rating — the service is more like a hostel. We booked through an agency website, but due to a bug in their system, we were charged twice for the same booking. We did not make two separate reservations. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff informed us that two rooms had been paid under the same name. We were shocked, as we believed we had only paid once. The hotel staff initially said they would do their best to help and that, once the agency sent them an official email, they would refund the extra charge. We contacted the agency several times, and they told us they had sent multiple emails to the hotel. However, the hotel kept claiming they had not received any emails. The next day, we went to the front desk, and a manager named Sai told us again that the hotel had received nothing. But then, just a few minutes later, she admitted that yes, the hotel had rejected the agency’s request. How can you reject something you claim you never received? Either the hotel is lying or they simply don’t know what they’re doing. We asked the agency to email and call them again, but the hotel continued to insist they got nothing. They kept saying they were “doing their best to help,” but when I asked for updates, I was promised that someone would call us or leave a message in our room. No one ever contacted us. On top of that, Miss Sai was extremely rude and even threatened to call the police. Instead of making threats, she should first learn how to tell the truth and do her job properly. Poor Housekeeping Another issue: cleaning service was terrible. It was the low season, with very few guests, so why did we have to wait 5 hours for our room to be cleaned? We requested cleaning at 9 AM, 11 AM, and 1 PM. Finally, at 2 PM, we had to go out and look for the cleaners ourselves, and personally ask them to clean the room. That’s not acceptable for a hotel claiming to be 5 stars. The Only Positive The only good thing about our stay was the breakfast staff — they were very kind, sweet, and caring. They were the only people who acted like professionals.
